Does the operation of a declared facility subject to periodic inspection require a special declaration receipt?
There is no specific procedure laid down by law for the declaration of a facility, whether or not it is subject to periodic inspection. Once the application has been examined, a plant subject to periodic inspection will be issued with a declaration receipt confirming the Prefect's agreement to its operation. However, the general requirements to be met, which are appended to the receipt, will be supplemented by requirements for operating conditions to be checked by a competent body.
For a newly declared installation, the first inspection must be carried out within 6 months of receipt, then every 5 years, or even every 10 years in certain special cases.
