Standards related to the use of hazardous products
The OHSAS 18001 standard

API 750 and OSHA 1910.119: These two guides cover the design, construction, start-up, operation, inspection, maintenance and engineering of processes involving hazardous substances. They are therefore applicable to companies using, producing or processing flammable, explosive or toxic substances.

Seveso II Directive: This requires companies to implement a Safety Management System. It concerns companies holding or using flammable, explosive or toxic substances in the European Union (Seveso high threshold).

Safety Check-list Contractors: this safety management standard was developed by the petrochemical industry in the Netherlands. It enables certification by an accredited body, and is mainly intended for petrochemical industry subcontractors.
