While regulations have evolved with a new test procedure (WLTP) and a new cycle (WLTC) in 2017, it is the introduction of the RDE protocol with the notion of limit values not to be exceeded in NOx and PM under real driving conditions that is now driving the development of engine pollution control systems. This will enable a significant reduction in the automotive contribution to emissions, leading to an improvement in air quality.
