Evaluate vibration exposure
Assessing the risk of exposure to noise and vibration at work

A number of questions will help you determine whether this risk exists.

• Has an equipment manufacturer warned of a vibration risk?

• Is a machine used for purposes other than those specified by the manufacturer?

• Are one or more machines used for "long periods"?

• Is an operator exposed to heavy shocks?

• Are there any awkward work postures?

• Have there been any complaints from employees?

• Are the tools worn?

If the answers to these questions are in the affirmative (for those where the answer is possible), there is probably a vibration-related problem; it is therefore necessary to continue the vibration risk assessment....
