7. Conclusions. Outlook
A major effort has been made to minimize emissions of dioxins, furans and PCBs. However, the reduction of these compounds, which are hazardous to human health and can be passed on to future generations, must continue. A number of ideas can be put forward to this end.
As we have seen, domestic practices such as fireplaces, barbecues, uncontrolled burning of waste or vegetation, etc. generate significant emissions of dioxins, furans and polychlorinated biphenyls. Public information campaigns, followed by regulation of practices, should be envisaged.
