Regarding the results themselves
The existence of environmental benefits associated with the recovery of ELT as a substitute for traditional materials confirms the value of investing in the upstream stages of ELT collection, sorting and transformation, with the aim of recovering the full potential of used tires.
In this respect, it is interesting to note that the impacts associated with these upstream stages turn out to be very secondary in relation to the benefits provided by recovery, including the transport stages, despite the major logistical organization required to collect used tires.
The assessment also puts the waste hierarchy mentioned in Directive 2008/98/EC on waste into perspective. It appears...
