4. Access to financing for a circular economy business
Based on our interviews, we can highlight some insights regarding the search for funding for the EC. Our sample consists of organizations of all sizes, ranging from very small businesses to international organizations, which reflects a diversity of profiles and demonstrates the existence of a broad range of stakeholders and a high level of socioeconomic complexity.
For entrepreneurs, the criterion for a project to be included in our sample was that it had to primarily involve an activity corresponding to at least one of the seven pillars of the circular economy as identified by ADEME.
For funders, the scope was slightly broader: we reached out to impact funders and responsible investment funds whose standards and values align with the circular economy and the circular finance framework (which do not finance excluded sectors such as tobacco, pornography, gambling, or alcohol)
