Sulfur compounds (
Mercaptans, sulfides, etc. are compounds with definite toxicity, significant corrosiveness, and a strong unpleasant odor. They must be removed from gaseous emissions before being released into the atmosphere. Their physicochemical characteristics, the flow rates to be treated, their concentration, and the matrix in which they are present (air, natural gas, etc.) are used to select the optimal treatment process. Some areas of application and the advantages and disadvantages of the processes are shown in the table below.
