5. Gas cleaning - Absorption
The principle of absorption is the transfer of matter from a gaseous to a liquid phase. The pollutant present in the air is solubilized in a liquid. This is known as physical absorption. However, to accelerate the transfer, the molecule can be transformed in the liquid.
Example
an instantaneous chemical reaction is promoted by an oxidizing agent, or dissociation is achieved by varying the pH of the solution.
Numerous theories (double film, penetration, interface renewal) have been developed to explain the mechanisms and modeling of absorption phenomena, and can be found in a number of reference works
