The design of an industrial ventilation system, whether or not combined with an off-gas treatment system, is the result of a combination of numerous technical, economic, energy and human factors. It's always a question of compromise between the ideal solution and the technical and financial resources that can reasonably be deployed. With this in mind, it is preferable to opt for localized capture systems rather than energy-intensive general ventilation. Air physics follows the same principles as fluid mechanics.
