2. Obligations on waste production
Under both EU and national regulations, waste producers are subject to specific obligations of three types:
an obligation to reduce the environmental impact of the product, from design to disposal, through Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR);
an obligation to provide information;
obligations arising from cross-border shipments of waste.
The more hazardous the waste, the more stringent these obligations become.
