2. Noise in liquid or solid media
A rotating pump generates noise in three forms: hydraulic noise, which can be considered the pump's primary noise, solid-borne noise, which is both primary and secondary, and airborne noise, which is a secondary noise generated by the first two through noise radiators that form a more or less complex transmission chain, in which piping plays a major role.
