Professionals working in the woodworking industry are particularly exposed to accidents and illnesses. The many causes are due to the nature of processing operations, on-site installation work, the size (and weight) of the parts handled, the carcinogenic and irritating nature of wood dust, the unsuitability of certain premises, and shortcomings in work organization. Some cases are linked to the use of toxic substances to treat, glue or varnish wood products.
