3. Different types of LPG transport and their regulations

The transport of LPG is subject to regulations governing the transport of dangerous goods.

For land transport, two major regulations apply:

  • the ADR (Agreement on the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road);

  • the RID (Regulations concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail).

These international regulations are supplemented by a French decree known as the “TMD decree,” which establishes additional provisions specific to France.

Changes to the ADR are made within the framework of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, and changes to the RID are made within the framework of the Intergovernmental Organization for International Carriage by Rail...
