Adsorbent resin; adsorbent resin
Non-ionic, highly porous synthetic resins. Many of these resins are macroporous polymers based on divinylbenzene-crosslinked styrene.
Amphoteric; amphotère
A resin that acts as both an acid and a base. An amphoteric resin has the properties of both a cation exchanger and an anion exchanger.
Brix (degree); degree Brix
Percentage by mass of sugar (sucrose) in a solution.
Volume load; specific flow rate
Flow in m3/h divided by resin volume in m3. The volume load is therefore measured in h–1. In English, we often speak of bed volumes per hour (BV/h).
Chelating resin
Ion exchange resin with an active group that forms stable complexes with certain metals.
Desugaring; sweetening-off
