1.1 RUTP: a concept in need of clarification
As indicated in the introduction, RUTPs are made up of all the water discharged by wastewater systems during rainy periods. A rainfall event is defined as the time elapsed from the start of the rainfall event until the wastewater system returns to nominal dry weather operation.
This article focuses specifically on the pollutants contained in RUTPs.
During rainy periods, rain erodes or mobilizes various pollutants present in the atmosphere, on urban elements or on the ground.
