5. Experimental characterization

The experimental vibro-acoustic characterization of synchronous machines is similar to that of asynchronous machines. For a description of the application of experimental and operational modal analysis and operational deformation techniques to electrical machines, the reader is referred to [D 3 580] . In this section, we will confine ourselves to commenting on spectrograms from measurements on synchronous machines.
