6. Decarbonization and recyclability
Being considered as an energy intensive industry, the glass fiber
industry has been implementing measures to reduce its environmental
footprint, such as driving for a more energy efficient glass manufacturing,
limiting CO2 emissions, reducing waste to landfill, limiting
the use of virgin raw materials, water.
One challenge for the glass industry is to keep investing in decarbonization
in a cost effective manner. CO2 emissions (the main greenhouse
gas to consider during glass fiber production) resulting from the
consideration of the entire ecosystem (scope 1 + 2 + 3) are used to
