8. CLP Regulation
A harmonized system for classifying and labeling the hazardous properties of substances and mixtures is a prerequisite for providing information on the risks and hazards associated with them. In Europe, the directives relating to the classification, labeling and packaging of dangerous substances (67/548/EEC, known as the Dangerous Substances Directive) and dangerous preparations (1999/45/EC, known as the Dangerous Preparations Directive) fulfilled this function until 1er December 2010 and 1er June 2015 respectively.
In Europe, the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals is applied through the Classification, Labelling, Packaging (CLP) regulation (no. 1272/2008 – Classification, Labelling, Packaging).
