Numerous culture-based studies in indoor environments have shown that significant bacterial and fungal levels are present in a priori innocuous places such as offices, residential homes and schools (Table 3 ). Data on the cultivable bacterial and fungal load of enclosed spaces show concentrations of between 10 and 10 ⁴ UFC · m ^-3 . Maximum concentrations being measured in dwellings and in a metro.
