Three-way" catalyst: catalyst operating at stoichiometry and simultaneously oxidizing CO and HC and reducing NOx . It is fitted to gasoline-powered vehicles.
Cerine: cerium oxide CeO2 widely used in automotive catalysts to store oxygen thanks to the redox properties of the Ce4+/Ce3+ couple. This property enables the catalyst to continue working during rich phases (deficient in O2).
TOC (total organic carbon): measures the quantity of carbon included in all organic pollutants in water.
VOC (volatile organic compound): in French law, the term COV applies to any organic compound with a vapour pressure greater than 10 Pa at 20°C and atmospheric pressure. The notion of toxicity is not included in the definition of VOCs.
