Certain uses require only water that has been stripped of all or part of its suspended matter—whether inert or living—and is stable in various respects, meaning it is not prone to:
to exhibit post-precipitation during use;
to cause interference with storage and distribution materials due to corrosion or scaling;
undergo bacterial, algal, or animal regrowth, which also implies the absence of chemical substances that could serve as nutrients (orthophosphates, nitrates) or react with disinfectants (for example: ammonium and/or organic matter with chlorine, bromides with ozone…).
