1. The different particles
Table 1 lists the most important particles, those that best reflect the current state of matter. They can be grouped into two main families: bosons and fermions.
1.1 Bosons
Bosons are exchange particles: they reflect interactions between particles, and are also called "messengers".
The graviton is the messenger of the gravitational interaction; the photon is the messenger of the electromagnetic interaction. Since both interactions are infinite in scope, the mass of these bosons must be zero. Their lifetime is infinite.
The intermediate boson is the messenger of the weak nuclear interaction. Neutral (Z)...
