From over 4,000 currently known mineral species, we have made a selection based on the degree of knowledge of the species in question and its worldwide recognition. International bodies such as the IMA (International Mineralogical Association) validate new mineral discoveries: this is the real legal deposit in the field. We have endeavored to keep abreast of the main international publications in this field.
