In what follows, we focus on the effects of the primary wave, with no loss of generality in terms of methodology; the effects of the bubble pulsation can be treated in a similar way, subject to adaptations of the models to the physics involved.
However, the use of full-scale (or reduced-scale) testing on the ship (or on the equipment) is not systematically feasible, due to the technical and financial constraints associated with test preparation. The development of analytical modeling and numerical simulation techniques for the phenomena that predominate during fluid/structure interaction is therefore an alternative to lengthy and costly tests.
