Occupational exposure

A worker's occupational exposure is due to chemicals used or generated deliberately (e.g.: chemical agent synthesis activity), or non-deliberately (e.g.: welding fumes). Exposure may occur in normal situations, during maintenance, or in the event of an incident or accident.

Severity factor

The regulations do not refer to "hardness factors", but to "occupational risk factors". In common parlance, these factors are referred to as "hardship factors", for the sake of convenience. They are factors to which workers are exposed in such conditions as to leave lasting, identifiable and irreversible traces on their health.
