6. Other adsorption processes
In previous applications, selective adsorption capabilities were used. The simple ability to adsorb and store fluids is also mainly used in other applications: storage (e.g. of natural gas for automotive transport), cold production, dehumidification and comfort filtration.
6.1 Natural gas storage
The use of natural gas to power vehicle engines is limited by the problem of storing the gas while on the move. The conventional solution is to store the gas under pressure (200 bar). An alternative solution would be to store the gas in an adsorber containing an adsorbent with a high methane adsorption capacity.
