2. Dissolution enthalpies
Table 1 gives the enthalpies of dissolution in water, ΔdisH, of mineral compounds.
They are expressed in kJ.mol-1.
The original publication [1] gave the heats of dissolution reaction Q expressed in kcal.mol-1.
Q being the heat released by the dissolution reaction, we have :Q = - ΔdisH
Not knowing the uncertainty attached to the values in the original publication, we have kept, after converting kcal.mol-1, into kJ.mol-1, the same number of significant figures (1 kcal.mol-1 = 4.1855 kJ.mol-1).
Dilutions are always expressed as the number of molecules of solution water per molecule of solute.
