7. Effluent treatment
Paper mill effluents are mainly composed of :
process water overflow and drips around the paper machine;
water from glands, pumps, mixers, refiners and purifiers;
machine head purification rejects ;
pressing water wastewater from pasta preparation ;
washing water from kitchens and sleeping quarters;
sludge dewatering water.
These flows are collected by a network of gutters and sent to the plant via a lift pump. The resulting effluent mainly contains suspended matter such as fibers, cellulose fines, mineral...
