The first problem that arises when studying a free or conjugated oligo- or polysaccharide concerns its monosaccharide composition. This raises two questions:
1) What is the compound's centesimal composition of neutral monosaccharides, osamines, uronic acids and sialic acids?
2) What is its molar composition in monosaccharides divided into the four above families?
