Production of baker's yeast by biotechnology

The raw materials used must meet the nutritional requirements imposed by the growth and multiplication of yeast cells. If yeast is produced on a medium with a defined composition, based on glucose as a carbon substrate and ammonium and phosphorus salts as sources of nitrogen and phosphate, the culture medium will need to be supplemented with mineral salts, vitamins and trace elements. A typical medium composition is given in Plomb's patent [7] and is shown in table 1 .
