1. Context
"Organic waste" from companies in the seafood sector is made up
of organic, biodegradable residues from the production and processing
of materials.
There are several possible recovery routes: animal feed, human
food, the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries, energy recovery
(methanization), direct land application or composting. This is why
we speak of "by-products" and even "co-products" rather than "waste".
This is increasingly the case in France and Europe (Norway, Denmark,
Spain, for example) in seafood processing companies.
In regulatory terms, marine by-products are classified as animal
