When clogging occurs in the form of a deposit, various physical unclogging techniques are available, all of which involve back filtration for a short time (backpulse, backflush, etc.) [28]: reversing the flow is comparable to a "water hammer" which loosens the deposit. Management of the backflow frequency depends on the fluid being filtered, but enables regular production flows to be maintained over a fairly long period.
