4. A few examples
Here are a few examples of classic chemical engineering problems for which CFD is a very interesting tool.
The mixing of two liquids, whether reactive or not, the contact and transfer between a liquid and a gas, and the suspension of solids in a stirred tank, are operations very often encountered in process engineering. CFD can help in the selection of agitators, their layout, the positioning of any fluid inlets and outlets, and the determination of operating conditions.
