1.1 Absorption and desorption
Absorption and desorption are operations involving the exchange of matter between a gaseous phase and a liquid phase of different chemical natures.
During an absorption operation, one or more constituents of the gas phase pass into solution. This operation is mainly used to purify a gas stream or to recover a constituent present in a gas mixture.
Desorption, often called "stripping", is the reverse of absorption.
