The use of continuous-flow microstructured reactors has sparked renewed interest in preparative photochemistry, enabling this field of research to expand even further.

Since irradiation under UV light is highly energetic (200 to 350 nm, corresponding to 590 to 342 kJ/mol), it can be directly exploited to activate organic molecules and thus induce chemical transformations. UV-induced synthetic transformations often enable a high degree of molecular complexity to be achieved in a single step, and include different types of transformations such as cycloadditions, rearrangements...
