2. Non-catalytic fluid-solid reactions

Many industrial operations involve reactions between a fluid and a consumable solid: ore roasting, coal combustion, blast furnaces, lime kilns, crystal washing and dissolution... Here are a few particle consumption models. Readers will find more comprehensive treatments in references [7] , [24] , [44] .

Consider the reaction :

A (fluid) + ν B (solid) ® products (solids, fluids)

The solid B initially contained in a particle, for example spherical, is in contact with the fluid A at a given temperature and concentration.
