Polycondensation of unsaturated poyesters

When one or more diacids are reacted with a diol, a linear, thermoplastic polyester is obtained by polycondensation (§ 2.1 ). If the diacid (or one of the diacids) carries a double bond, the polyester is said to be unsaturated; it is generally referred to as polycondensate or bulk resin. This bulk resin is soluble, among other things, in certain vinyl, acrylic or allylic compounds (products known as monomers), which can react with the polyester's double bonds.
