1. Membrane manufacturing

An artificial membrane with selective permeability is a thin material structure obtained as a result of appropriate chemical or physical treatments, of inorganic or organic compounds, distinct, associated or combined, synthetically derived or natural .

The structure can be continuous or discontinuous. The absence of membrane material constitutes a pore. The membrane may therefore be porous or non-porous. In general, for improved selectivity, a porous membrane is designed to have a pore diameter distribution centered around a single value
