2. Dimension 2

We now turn our attention to writing finite volume schemes in dimension 2 space. The principle is the same: the solution is approximated by a constant function per mesh, and the numerical flows are calculated across the interfaces separating the meshes (we focus here only on cell-centered schemes). Let K be a mesh (figure 3 ), note the set of meshes that share an edge with this mesh V (K), e KL the edge between mesh K and a mesh L of V (K), n KL the unit normal to e KL oriented from K to L.
