Modern medicine has enjoyed considerable success over the last fifty years, thanks to modern imaging techniques (magnetic resonance imaging, CT scans, echography, etc.) and signal acquisition (electrocardiography, electroencephalography, electromyography, etc.). The result is faster diagnosis, more effective therapy and a more reliable prognosis. This approach is that of medicine that cures, sometimes to the detriment of medicine that cares for and prevents disease ("care", figure 1 ).
