The – single or double – building envelope is both a place of insulation and a place of material and energy exchange. Innovations in the use of NM and NT will play a role in both.
3.1 Nanostructured superinsulating envelope
The first lever that can be used to limit unwanted heat transfer is, of course, the thermal conductivity λ of the materials used in the building envelope.
