3.1 Design and manufacturing rules
A fundamental approach is to identify typical phases in the life cycle of everyday products. It is therefore important to identify phases during which, on the one hand, the consumer (or the environment) is inevitably exposed to the product and, on the other, phases where the emission of nanoparticles is likely. In this respect, the use of deteriorated and/or end-of-life products must be carefully scrutinized (figure 18 ).
