6. Conclusion
A better understanding of many biological mechanisms requires modeling methods and tools dedicated to the study of the mechanical behavior of the cellular cytoskeleton. Tensegrity systems have demonstrated their relevance and effectiveness in this respect. They are capable of representing the complex architecture of the cytoskeleton in a biorealistic way, offer the possibility of modeling its structuring process during cell adhesion, and have assembly properties that enable the generation of multicellular tissues.
The results of numerical simulations based on this analogy are validated by the majority of experimental observations, reflecting the potential of this approach and pointing the way to future advances.
