3. Frictional impact between solids
The theory of impact with friction presents many difficulties. However, it is of indisputable interest for a large number of problems where the zero-friction approximation is not sufficient to understand the phenomena, as in the case of the impact of a club against a golf ball, where it is friction that causes the ball to rotate very rapidly.
The theory and methods will be studied in this particular case (figure

) to avoid laborious developments and to highlight the method used.
