Shear elasticity
Also known as the shear modulus or stiffness modulus, this term describes a material’s response to shear stress. A value of zero defines a liquid state, in contrast to a solid, which has a static shear modulus.
Thermoelasticity
A property describing the relationship between temperature changes and mechanical deformation (expansion or contraction) and vice versa.
Dimensionality
The dimensionality of a property expresses the dependence of that quantity on scale.
Transverse phonons
The velocity of transverse phonons is related to the shear modulus () where
