Another way to count
Systems have always been studied and analyzed in an algebraic body, endowed with two laws:

In this body, we only add up quantities of the same kind (e.g. 2 bottles + 3 bottles gives 5 bottles), but there are situations where we naively break these rules and use a different way of counting.
