6. Contractual aspects of design services
The collaboration contract needs to be carefully drafted, being as precise as possible about the purpose of the contract and the number of models transferred by the designer, the cost of the study and the payment schedule, industrial property and confidentiality deadlines. Collaboration between designer and company is essentially based on mutual trust. A designer who knows a company well becomes a valuable partner.
Design services are invaluable to the company, which needs to budget for design studies in the same way as it budgets for advertising. However, the real costs of design are always much lower than the costs of non-design.
