Mastering design
This means knowing the different materials available for packaging, in terms of the functions required to protect the product, as well as the manufacturing and packaging processes. This knowledge will define the scope of ecodesign actions.
ExampleWhile work is underway to improve the environmental performance of thermoformed yoghurt pots by a factor of 4, by 2020 only polystyrene will be able to meet both the need for secability and the need for high-speed yoghurt packaging.
