2. Model typologies
The physics of failures ( – PoF) corresponds to analyses carried out at the start of the design process for new equipment to predict the reliability and service life of the various technological solutions likely to be implemented. It corresponds to predictive reliability or reliability by design studies, and is part of the disciplines of reliability engineering and concurrent engineering. It is widely used for reliability studies on mechanical and electronic equipment. It enables designers to select, for new equipment and its components, the design choices and manufacturing processes that minimize the possibility of failure, leading to robust components optimized for reliability
